Casino bonus language can be confusing because the headline amount and the amount a player must actually wager are different things. In Great Britain, one major rule changed in 2026: Gambling Commission licensees can no longer apply wagering requirements to bonus funds above 10 times.
The rule took effect on January 19, 2026. It is part of the Gambling Commission's Social Responsibility Code 5.1.1 on rewards and bonuses.
What the 10x cap means
The Gambling Commission defines a wagering requirement as a requirement to make wagers totalling a specified value before funds become withdrawable. Under the current code, licensees must not apply wagering requirements to incentives that require customers to play through bonus funds at more than 10x.
